Route Information and Photos

This very popular walk from Lulworth Cove to Durdle Door takes you along the cliff tops offering some of the best views in Dorset. Although the first section of the walk involves walking uphill, the slope is fairly gentle and the path is wide and well made. It’s only slightly over one mile from the car park in Lulworth Cove to Durdle Door so it’s still considered as an easy walk (2.1 miles in total, approximate walking time 1 hour 30 minutes but allow at least another hour to stop and enjoy the views).

If you are feeling fit then you can continue west along the South West Coast Path to White Nothe where you’ll get great views over Ringstead Bay and as far as Weymouth. Durdle Door to White Nothe is another 2.8 miles each way. For more information and photos see our Durdle Door to White Nothe walk. Both walks were undertaken on 30th March 2021.

The walk described on this page from Lulworth Cove to Durdle Door is one of my favourite coastal walks especially if you start early in the morning to beat the crowds. I usually do the walk at least once a year. It’s particularly lovely in June and July when you’ll see plenty of colourful wild flowers along the route. For photos during these months see a previous post Lulworth to Durdle Door June 2014
